Integrated Formation Evaluation
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Purpose Learn formation evaluation from comprehensive and integrated approaches involving geological knowledge, onsite evaluation, log analysis and core analysis. Understand the limitation of each methodology / technology used that acquired in different way, different philosophy, different scale, coverage, resolution and etc. Hence, use this each technology should be taken carefully to be aware of uncertainty. Exercise to get hands-on experience on quantitative log analysis.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Able to get in-depth understanding and perform integrated formation evaluation by integrating available data from various sources (mudlog, onsite evaluation, log analysis, core analysis, well report and etc).
2. Able to evaluate reservoir quality that will impact into production performance.
3. Able to perform simple log analysis to calculate Volume of shale, porosity and water saturation and identify pay zone.
COURSE OUTLINE
Day 1 :
Get in-depth mudlogging data and sample description in order to identify hydrocarbon and reservoir quality for all rock type
Day 2 :
Familiarization with core acquisition and Routine Core Analysis to support log analysis and reservoir characterization
Day 3 & 4 :
Principle of wireline logging acquisition and interpretation
Day 5 :
Exercise log analysis to identify potential pay
INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
Shofiyuddin
Consultant Geologist, experienced in oil and gas industry for 30 years with mainly in formation evaluation and reservoir characterization disciplines with various fields and companies.
Key Expertise’s
1. Petrophysical Advisor
- Ensure all of petrophysical workflow, methodology and parameter are properly carried out.
- Integrate all of available subsurface data set (mudlog, cutting description, log and core analysis) to achieve comprehensive petrophysical analysis
- Coach young Geoscientist / petrophysicist to perform their job properly and provide a reliable petrophysical interpretation
2. Geological Advisor
- Subsurface technical assessment / review on subsurface programs for development and exploration wells. The assessment include evaluation of geological and petrophysical justification for infill well drilling based on reservoir property, movement of fluid contact, facies distribution both vertical and lateral and nearby well performance.
- Review and provide recommendation for Formation Evaluation program for exploration and development wells.
- Looking for an upside potential based on geological and petrophysical perspectives. The result can be adding perforation or new infill well.
3. Current Role
- Geological Advisor for Bimbingan Profesi Sarjana (BPS) Classroom (Jun-Jul 2022). Provide advisory for general discussion and also conduct sharing for geological and formation evaluation disciplines.
- Petrophysical Advisor in Lemigas for several projects, coaching up to 7 young petrophysicists to assist their jobs done properly
