Course Description

As businesses become increasingly dependent on technology for their fundamental operation, the need for system availability is of paramount importance to guarantee continuous power supply to the essential/critical AC/DC loads. At the same time the protection of electronic equipment from power failures, power sags, power surges, under-voltage, electrical line noise, over-voltage, frequency variations, switching transients and harmonic distortion is a major issue in industry today. Such protection is provided by the employment of various types of Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS).

Course Objective

The attendees will

1. Obtain a reasonable understanding of batteries, how they work and what can go wrong, thus promoting their efficient use.
2. Solid knowledge about different types of industrial batteries and relevant recommended maintenance practices.
3. Gain an understanding of the basics of different types of modern UP Systems (single/redundant) and how they work.
4. Know the basics of on site fault finding and how to adequately maintain UPS & Battery charger systems.
