Occupotional Hygiene Monitoring Training
Short Description
Reduce the risks related to health from workplace exposure with our occupational hygiene and monitoring services
Ill health caused by or aggravated by poor working conditions affects a considerable number of workers across the UK, resulting in sick days and loss of productivity to a business. Workplace hazards often result in injury, illness or detrimental effect on the well being of workers. The hazards are numerous and can include: substances such as dusts and vapours; physical such as heat, light, noise and radiation; ergonomic relating to posture and motion; biological including bacteria and viruses; or even psychosocial for example stress, violence and bullying.
Our occupational hygienists specialise in controlling such workplace health risks by assessing hazards across a variety of environments including high risk workplaces such as factories, hospitals, offices and building sites. Using their expertise they will assess the short and long-term effects on health arising from exposure to hazards and help ensure that your business is meeting its legislative requirements in terms of ensuring ‘adequate control’ measures to protect people.
Training Goals
- To provide a practical understanding of occupational hygiene for people who need to manage or advise on workplace health issues in their employment.
- To provide a foundation for students who wish to undertake more in-depth study in individual occupational hygiene subjects.
- To inform and enthuse students about the field of occupational hygiene
Training Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the student should have a basic understanding of:
- The value of occupational hygiene and the role of the occupational hygienist
- The range of health hazards encountered in the workplace.
- Hazard recognition techniques
- Sources and potential routes of occupational exposure
