RESERVOIR SIMULATION FOR MANAGERS

OBJECTIVES
Thirty years ago, it was difficult to sell the idea of using reservoir simulation tools to those responsible for managing technical groups. It was something that come from the ivory tower, and at first was not widely accepted. Now all that has changed, and in some quarters it is viewed as the ultimate panacea. But do you know there are some reservoirs that should never be the subject of a simulation study? Do you know there are question managers frequently ask that can never be answered by simulation? Still worse, did you know many simulation approaches taken today are more exercise in computer hacking.
This course is directed toward teaching you how to get the most out of the reservoir simulation resources in your organization. It focuses on what you can hope to achieve from a simulation study-what a simulator will tell you and what it will never tell you. Case studies are used to provide you with some managing challenges. From these, you will appreciate the vital need for a team approach, frequent communication among different disciplines, and adequate training and updating of your professional staff. The presentation methods is unique, it is entirely computer-driven, in color, with parts animated to easily convey the most important principles.
