Training LabVIEW ( Programming and Interfacing)
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this course is to expose participants to methods and techniques used in LabVIEW programming and interfacing. This course aims to provide participants with the skills necessary to perform basic tasks in LabVIEW, including those required for Experimentation and Measurement in industry. The LabVIEW programming environment has become an industry standard, especially in the areas of data acquisition and instrument control, making it important for students to learn how to best utilize LabVIEW and its programming environment. LabVIEW makes GUI development, instrument communication, and data logging easier and more efficient. Learning how to program in LabVIEW will provide participants with benefits, internships, and eventually be a useful skill in the work place. In this training participants will become familiar with graphical programming basics, file input/output, signal generation and processing, data acquisition, and communication protocols. At the end of this course participants will be expected to have the ability to write high-level LabVIEW programs, such as those used in controllers, or instrument data acquisition and analysis.

- Introduction: Examples, Tools Palette, Controls Palette, Functions Palette, Data Types, Conversion, Parallel Data Flow, Create Indicators/Controls/Constants
- Basic Programming: Indicators, Controls, Math Operations, ,Booleans, Arrays, Strings
- Structures: Comparison, Case Structures, Sequences, Local Variables
- Implementing a VI: front panel design, data types, documenting code, loops, timing, iterative data transfer, plotting data, case structures.
- Front Panel: Construction, Containers, Decorations, VI Properties, Tabs
- Loops: For Loops, While Loops, Shift Registers, Indexing
- Advanced Topics: Strings, Booleans, and Data Types
- I/O: Reading and Writing to Files, Paths, Data taking, Charting, Graphing
- Timing: Timing function, Timed Loops, Event Structures
- Waveforms: Signal Generation/Processing, Waveform types, Dynamic data, Fourier Analysis
- Setting up Hardware: Measurement and automation.
- Principles of data acquisition
- Data acquisition (DAQ): Connecting to hardware, DAQ Vi’s, Serial, Arduino, and USB interface
