APPLIED OIL AND GAS RESERVOIR SIMULATION TRAINING

OBJECTIVES

Oil and gas reservoir simulation is presented from a problem perspective as an engineering tool. Through hands-on application of a reservoir simulator, participants learn important concept, develop history matching skills, and gain experience in performance predictions. The relationship of reservoir engineering principle and evaluation techniques is stressed. Simulation is presented from the perspective of engineering problem solving. Fundamentals are introduced to aid in model construction and evaluation. The course progresses from elementary to complex problems. For each problem, the simulator calculations are related to well-know concepts of material balance, pressure behavior, frontal advance, displacement efficiency. The problems show how the predicted performance is affected by

Uncertain rock and fluid properties
Poorly measured production data
Numerical quantities discussed throughout the course.

Hands-on application of the Reservoir Simulator in forces important concepts. Participants perform a reservoir study project involving a history match and performance prediction.
